Double Diamond: Review & Free Demo
Double Diamond Slot Overview
Playing slots with thousands of paylines sounds fun, but it’s hard to follow the action. If you like paying attention to detail and getting immersed in the spins, the Double Diamond online slot will meet these needs.
The minimalist slot was first introduced online in 2005, but it’s been in land-based casinos since 1989. Surprising to some extent, this Vegas classic developed by IGT is a popular choice among Canadian players.
IGT is famous for its 3-reel machines, and Double Diamond is no exception. Our Double Diamond slot review discusses the mechanics, symbols, volatility, and all slot features you should know about.

Double Diamond Symbols and Payouts
You’ll find six symbols and one payline on the Double Diamond real money slot.
Payouts happen if you get at least one Cherry symbol on the payline or three matching symbols. You also get paid if you get a combo of Bar symbols. Please note that the last paytable item isn’t an actual icon in the game, as it refers to hitting Bar symbol combinations.
Another fun thing about Double Diamond is that all symbols act as multipliers rather than giving you a fixed sum of coins. More on that comes up next.
The Double Diamond is the main attraction in this Double Diamond real money slot. It acts as both a Wild and a multiplier. With one Double Diamond, you get twice the regular win amount, while two Double Diamond symbols payout four times the stake.
|3 = 1000 x stake
|3 = 80 x stake
|3 = 40 x stake
|3 = 25 x stake
|3 = 10 x stake
|3, Any 2, Any 1 = 10, 5, or 2 x stake
|3 = 5 x stake
You won’t need any schematics to understand how this slot machine pays out. There’s only 1 payline. You might find it weird, but that’s the charm of classic reel machines.
Double Diamond Slot RTP & Volatility
You could play Double Diamond in demo mode to figure out the configurations, but we’ve already done the heavy lifting. Here are all the technicalities you need to know about the Double Diamond online slot machine.
RTP – No Diamonds Here
The Double Diamond RTP (Return to Player) percentage is 95.44%. This rate is a bit lower than our preference of 96%, but we wouldn’t wreck our minds about it.
This slot has a medium to high variance level, which means, in theory, you can expect bigger wins, but you won’t see them frequently. It’s fair to note that there’s no official IGT report on the volatility; we based our info on our experience with the game.
Min / Max Bets
The minimum and maximum bets vary from one online casino to another. In some cases, the minimum limit starts at C$1, and the maximum is C$100, while in others, it starts at C$100. So, it’s safe to say your Double Diamond slot strategy will involve picking a casino with suitable betting limits.
Jackpot And/Or Maximum Win
Double Diamond isn’t neither a progressive nor a fixed jackpot slot. There isn’t even a max win limit as your payout depends on your bet size. There are no special features that can drive the winnings through the roof. For instance, if you bet C$250 and get three Double Diamonds, your win will be 250 x 1,000 = C$250,000.
No matter whether you go for Double Diamond slot machine free play or real money, this slot is as simple as they get. There aren’t any Double Diamond free spins, bonus buys, or bonus rounds.
The thing you should know is how the payouts work. First, the usual – only the highest winning combination is paid. But it’s interesting that the Cherry symbol pays out even if you get only 1 of it.
You should also know that if you get one Double Diamond symbol, but no other symbols land on the line, you won’t win anything.
The only other thing relevant to the winning ways is the Any Bar symbol presented in the paytable. It is actually telling you that you can get a win if you land on Double and/or Triple bars.
The rest is standard, and the play screen rocks the following segments:
- Play button;
- Autoplay button;
- Bet site section;
- Info button.
Double Diamond Bonus Games
As mentioned, there aren’t any Double Diamond slot machine bonus rounds or Double Diamond slot free spins.
My Playing Experience – How Simple Is Too Simple?
I haven’t played many 1-payline slots, so checking out Double Diamond was an adventure. I was surprised that a spin could end with zero symbols on the payline, which makes winning calculations even trickier.
On a positive note, there are only 6 symbols, so matching them is not as tough. I started playing with C$100 and ended up with C$88, which is decently close to the RTP percentage. Though, I have to say I only played 20 manual rounds and then 20 auto spins.
During the session, I noticed that it’s not hard to land on a Cherry symbol, as I got 13 in 40 spins. I also liked that the Double Diamond symbol doesn’t only come in a combo with low-paying symbols.
You will either like this game or find it boring. I don’t think there’s a middle ground with it.
Graphics & Sound
The visuals are exactly what you’d expect from a slot almost two decades old. As someone who’s used to test video and 3D slots, this game felt way too simplistic. The symbols aren’t as detailed, but I like the reel-machine look.
